About Us
Patty & Hazel
Hazel's Haven is a Family owned business in which we are very dedicated to.
We are very big animal lovers and the decision to opening up our home to your pets has become the biggest blessing to our family.
With more than 16 years of experience in grooming and also having the experience in boarding and working with animals we have a vast knowledge and understanding on how to properly care for your pets.
About Hazel
Hazel is a mix breed York Shu which is half Yorkie and half Shih Tuz
She is 15 years old and still looks like a puppy. Hazel is the sweetest dog you will ever meet, she is spunky, very vocal and full of life.
In 2017 Hazel was diagnosed with Progressive Retinal Atrophy which is a degenerative disease that over time, eventually leads to blindness.
There is currently no effective treatment available for PRA and so all we could do is make sure our home was safe and secure for Hazel to live in.
In 2024 Hazel developed Glaucoma and would need to remove her left eye.
Dogs rely more on other senses such as smell and are able to move around and adapt well in their home environment.
With now Hazel's loss of vision and some loss of hearing posing some problems I'm pleased to be able to say that Hazel is healthy and happy and loves spending time with all her fur friends.
Taking care of senior dogs...
Senior Dogs & Dogs with special needs have different care requirements than those of a younger dog.
As a dog ages, they become less mobile, their hearing and sight aren't as good as it used to be.
Which means a visit to the Dog Groomer or Dog Sitter can be a stressful event for a senior dog.
It is common for a senior dog to have health issues that can make grooming more of a challenge.
We at Hazel's Haven are experienced with senior dogs & dogs with special needs and would love the opportunity to care for your senior pets.
Hazel has taught us that LOVE overcomes any obstacle and even though Hazel is both a senior, blind and deaf dog she is living her best life!
